About Us
Hello. I’m Mark Greatbatch, owner of Greatbatch Woodworking & Construction. I’ve been creating things out of wood since I was a kid, learning from my father, who is a British-trained cabinet maker and a journeyman carpenter.
Our family moved to Canada in 1980, and it wasn’t long before we began building our own home here in Powell River, British Columbia. Since then, my father and I have built custom homes, kitchens, bathrooms and many custom furniture and cabinet pieces.
Like father like son, I too have become a journeyman carpenter, cabinet maker and woodworker.
The beauty of wood
My passion for working with wood comes from the unique characteristics and natural beauty of the wood itself. I enjoy the creative process of designing and producing custom pieces.
I also enjoy the problem solving and challenges involved in creating something unique and I have always been interested in the structural aspect and aesthetic appeal of building and construction.
During production of our pieces we use environmentally friendly products in attempt to promote healthy homes. In addition, we use materials that are reclaimed or from sustainable sources whenever possible.
From tree to finished product
The recent purchase of a portable sawmill allows us to have full control of production, from raw logs to finished product. We can even mill trees supplied by you, if you wish to use your own logs in the production of custom wood pieces and projects.
The ultimate reward for us is being able to provide you, the customer, with something that is not only personalized and one-of-a-kind, but can be custom designed to meet your specific practical needs and desires.
